Impossible Realities: 25 Years Later

By Published On: May 25, 2026
Hey all!

Yes you read that right. Impossible Realities Gaming and Cosplay Convention has been around for TWENTY FIVE YEARS. It all started when Dana Betts, Eric Merzetti, Matt Mazerolle and Melissa Woodcock dreamt up the idea for a not-for-profit sponsored gaming focused event to support all the regional gaming stores and other cons, with a smaller more intimate event in mind to keep venue costs to a minimum, which in turn meant the door cost stayed low for the players. All games were run BY volunteer gamers FOR gamers.

Our numbers over the years have gone up and down, and players have grown up, moved on, had kids, got their degrees, and now their kids are coming to play. Execs have rotated in and out, but our passion remained. While we aren’t big and flashy and having hundreds or thousands of visitors, our small format meant we could keep doing this without worries, and PLAY GAMES with prizes and game giveaways from our sponsors.

So here we are: 25 Years Later. This gaming weekend will be September 12-13 at the Carleton Curling Club, and we are looking for RPG and boardgame GM’s early to start offering games to run for the event. Warhorn is up and active and several games are already listed! The link is is up for viewing and registration will be opened up mid-summer, so use https://warhorn.net/…/impossible…/schedule/agenda or the attached QR code below.

Bottom line: if you want gaming events in the region, you need to support as many as possible, even ours! As we get titles, and tournaments and vendors, we will keep you posted. If you want bigger and better, give us your 50 cents worth and we’re up for new ideas to move us forward with more events on the coming years.
PS if you have any memorable gaming stories to tell from past event, share them here!
